Which Massage Technique Best Fits Your Needs?

Category: Massage

Still don’t know if you’re giving your body what it’s asking for? We have composed a brief explanation of the different massage techniques and styles of massage that we offer here at Happy Head in order to give you a better understanding of each session and to help you give your body exactly what it needs with the right massage technique.

The most common type of massage therapy practiced here in the United States is Swedish massage. Throughout this session, your trained massage therapist uses long smooth strokes, while kneading, and performing circular movements on the superficial layers of your muscles. We like to use hypoallergenic lotion and oil to reduce friction and improve your overall comfort. Swedish massage is typically gentler and relaxing compared to other more strenuous types of massage, as it is more focused on soft, soothing motion.

If you’re looking for something that will deliver deeper into your tight, stressed muscles, give our Deep Tissue massage a try! In this session, your massage therapist uses slower, deeper strokes across the grain of the muscle. This method targets the deepest layer of muscle tissue in order to target knots and relieve built up tension.

Looking to be totally rejuvenated in just one hour? Our Thai massage is a mix of compression and stretches. This massage is even known to align the energies of the body. Your therapist will use gentle pressure on specific points, and then move and stretch you into a sequence of postures. It’s like doing yoga without having to do any of the work! Thai massage is the most energizing session that we offer, and is best known for improving flexibility and range of motion.

Need to show your feet a little TLC? Come in for some reflexology and try our Asian Style Body and Foot massage! This is way more than a simple foot massage. Reflexology involves applying pressure to certain points on the foot that directly correspond to organs and systems in the body. This technique is extra relaxing, especially for people who stand on their feet all day or just have tired, achy feet.

Can’t decide? No problem! Our Asian Fusion Combo Massage, a crowd favorite, is our signature massage which includes 3 different styles of massage therapy all wrapped up into one 90 minute session. In this massage, your therapist will spend time giving you a soft, smooth Swedish massage, add in some stretching motions of the Thai style, and also perform the Reflexology on your feet! You really can’t go wrong with this massage, and it is a great place to start if you don’t want to limit yourself to just one technique throughout the session.

Add an extra therapist to your massage session for double the relaxation! With one therapist focusing on your neck and shoulders while the other is working on your legs and feet, this option is certainly no waste of time.

Don’t forget, an hour is never long enough! Ask about extending any massage to a 90 minute or two hour session. Enjoy your next massage.
